What People's Say About Place

Penguin Ed's is a charming, homey bar b que place! The service is friendly and super quick! Our bar b que dinner was delicious and very reasonably priced. The only issue was they only serve beer for alcohol. If you drink wine, you are out of luck! My daughter is going back with all her college friends. The dinner was very tasty and didn't have a long wait, great restaurant!

Everything about this place is great. It smells meaty. It has wood walls, tables covered with info sheets, and a well-loved cozy vibe. Service was fantastic. We seated ourselves, as the signs advised, and were quickly taken care of after that. The serving sizes are generous! My brisket was perfectly cooked, not dry at all. Fried okra was delicious. My husband tried all of the sauces, including ghost pepper, and thought they were all flavorful. I would definitely come here again when I am back in the area.

Great menu options! The food came out very fast and was fresh! The cookies are also very delicious! Prices were reasonable too!

Just excellent. The brisket is delicious. The service is great. The place is nice. Overall great experience. I’ll come back for sure.

The music was quiet enough you could hear yourself think which is rare these days. The waitress helped me figure out what I would like and she made an excellent recommendation. There is a variety of seating. The burger might have been the best restaurant burger I ever had; it looked great; to eat I happily used quite a few napkins being I like ketchup, these are not for children or those on a first date as you get a tomato, lettuce, pickles and I added onions; for me it was a robust, hearty meal. The cooks did a great job, God bless them.

Best fried pickles anywhere. They slice them really thin and the batter is crispy not soggy. Pork ribs are outstanding too. Pro tip: order your fried pie(s) with you main dish. It takes them several minutes because they’re fried fresh. But they come out lava-hot. So by the time you finish the fried pickles and ribs or bbq sandwiches, the pie will be perfect.

Daughter picked this place as she had a good experience last time she was here. It was pretty good. The fried pickles were awesome. Tasted like funnel cake batter as it was slightly sweet with the tang of the pickles. She got the baked potato with broccoli and cheddar cheese added. I got the pulled pork Jr sandwich combo with potato salad and baked beans as sides. Baked beans had a hint of jalapenos to kick it up a bit, but not to spicy.

Overall, I had a pretty good experience. The staff we interacted with were very friendly and accommodating. Our food came out pretty darn quick too. I got the pulled pork sandwich, fries and Mac and cheese. My girlfriend got the pulled pork, baked beans and potato salad. We both thought the pulled pork was really good. The mac and cheese while very creamy, didn't have a ton of flavor. This is more of personal preference thing though, I like my Mac and cheese to have a strong cheese flavor. My girlfriend said the potato salad was good. I'll definitely eat there again.
